The Ants Go Marching In...

While my first attempt at Di's sketch "bugged" me, I DID really like the colour combination and the set I chose. So I thought I'd try that card again, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

All products from Stampin' Up.
CS: Basic Black, Whisper White
INK: Lavendar Lace, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Black
STAMPS: Bugs & Kisses, All Year Cheer (sentiment)
ACC: Tempting Turquoise buttons, stampin' dimensionals, slit punch

Di Hickman Sketch

Di Hickman has her Wednesday Sketch posted.
For this card, I chose Simply Stated swirly-flower (Fancy Pants) and the "adore" stamp (Heidi Swapp). I'm on a black kick lately, but I love it paired with the Almost Amethyst(SU). I used black primas paired with flowers punched with my SU flower punch, and added Brocade Blue brads.

The challenge issued by Caardvarks was to use only orange...I offset it with black.
CS: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black (SU)
Stamps: Jungle Leaves, In The Wild (CTMH)
Acc: black brads, pop dots (SU)

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Daring Cardmakers challenges us to create a card using black and one other colour. Well, I LOVE black, so I jumped all over this!
The first card teams black with Cool Caribbean. I used my new swirly-flower and words from the Simply Stated set by Fancy Pants. I embossed the swirly-flower with clear EP. I inked the Fancy Pants chipboard paisley pieces in black and tempting turquoise.

For this card, I embossed the solid flower image with clear EP, and embossed the line flower image with white EP. I LOVE how it looks! I also embossed the word adore with black EP. I added the ribbon, and embossed a smaller flower with white EP then cut it out and stuck in a black brad. This is my favourite card, but not sure if white constitutes "another colour"?

Flower images: CTMH set Delight in Everything
Adore image: Heidi Swapp

Tami's Colour Challenge...Complete!

Tami's challenge was to use neutral colours...I added the burgandy ribbon only because the ivory ribbon didn't show up in the scan...although the ivory ribbon does look nice against the brown embossed swirly-flowers.
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Ivory (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip craft (SU)
Acc: Clear EP, Ticket corner punch, horizontal slit punch, burgandy ribbon (all SU)
Stamp: Swirly-flower from Simply Stated set (Fancy Pants)

New Scrapfest Goodies!

I had a blast at Scrapfest in Ottawa on Saturday! I only spent a total of 30.00! (10.00 at Scrapfest, and 20.00 at Endless Memories!) I also filled up my frequent buyer card and got another 20.00 in goodies.
So, what'd I get? At Scrapfest, I picked up 2 of the Heidi Swapp stamps..."enjoy" and "adore", and some paper. I enjoyed browsing the booths and participating in a couple make'n'takes, but not overly blown away by anything new. A couple of booths had 30%-40% off merchandise, but nothing that interested me.
Went to Endless Memories (a LSS) where Karen had a 30% off entire purchase sale. Got another Heidi Swapp set, "baby", and some Heidi Swapp brads. Also picked up some Tombow refills, Fancy Pants big chipboard Paisley, some primas (for the first time!) and used my full card to get the Simply Stated set by Fancy Pants.
So I made this card...my original design is shown first. But when I scanned it, it came out

THIS way! So I'm thinking, which way looks better? The original design or this design? Let me know your opinion by posting a comment in this post.
EDITED TO ADD: I actually do prefer my original design, which is the first card shown.

This card used:
-Black Card Stock by SU
-Paper by CTMH
-Swirl'n'Flower stamp by Fancy Pants
-Adore stamp by Heidi Swapp
-Patterned Primas
-Pretty in Pink brads by SU

And another one...

Doesn't it just feel great when a plan comes together exactly how you envisioned? Well, this card did just that! PLUS, I took Colleen's Thursday Throwdown challenge again! The Rhonna Ferrar swirls set was perfect...I chose ONE of the swirls as my background, picked a swirly sentiment from CTMH, and used ribbon as my embellishment.
I used the horizontal slit punch for my ribbon holes, the corner ticket punch on my sentiment panel and the slit punch to make my scallopped edge. And I added the holes in the scallops, cause it matches my new blog banner that Nicole made me!
Cameo Coral is one of those colours I just don't use, but I was looking at the SU 2004-05 catalogue, and saw the black ink and the cameo ink right beside each other and thought, "Hey, that looks good!"
So, there, Colleen! Twice in a row! Hoo-yah!

Throwdown Challenge Complete!

Ha! Take that, Colleen! LOL!
Colleen's Thursday Throwdown was very specific...follow the rules or ELSE! LOL! Well, I did! Let's see:
Follow sketch...check!
Only one stamp for BG...check!
Only a sentiment used on small panel...check!
Maximum 2 embellishments...check! (I used the peanut bag as an embellishment)!
It's not my most favourite card, but it meets the criteria!

I used the set Treat Yourself from Stampin'Up (which I earned free during SAB!)and I created the sentiment using the Memories alphabet from CTMH. I ran the peanut bag through the crimper and popped some of the peanuts with dimensional dots.

My New Look!

I have been MIA for a while because I wanted to wait until my new look was finished before posting! I LOVE my new banner! Thank you to Nicole Seitler for designing my banner and uploading everything!

Black and White challenge

Colleen's Thursday Throwdown was a black and white challenge...no other colour, just black and white. I really like my card, but I KNOW I've got black and white polka dot ribbon and I can't find it! I so wanted to put polka dot ribbon on my card!
I used a piece of chipboard and inked it with white craft ink, then added white embossing powder and heat set. I added a black shoe button I've had for ages. I used black organdy and white grosgrain ribbon (cause I can't find my polka dot ribbon! could it be I used it all?)
The shoe stamps are from a set called Purse-nally Yours by Stampendous...one of my new fave sets that I bought at Auntie Em's last Saturday! The background is wheeled with Hot to Dot by Stampin'Up!

Because they make me smile...

This squirrel cracks me up! It is from the Hello Friend set by CTMH.

Another chicken card using the Best of Cluck set from SU. This card LO was inspired by Kim's card. She challenged us to use her card as a guide (sketch) and make our own!

LOVE This paper!

Scallopped Edge Tutorial

First, I apologize for the poor photo quality. I did my best.

First, cut a piece of card stock the length of your card (for this one, I cut 5.5")Then place your slit punch as far as it will go...this will ensure your scallops will be the same. Punch, then move your punch over, only very slightly overlapping your last punch. Continue the whole length of the strip.

Now, pull the scallopped edge away from the card stock.

Adhere your strip to the inside edge of your card. You can cover it later if you like.

Decorate your card.

Fini! Now you try!

Playing With My New Stuff!

This was a sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststampers, I think it looks so "Andy Warhol", but I like the white embossed saying at the bottom.

I'm not usually a "Flourish" or "Swirls" type of gal, but when I was able to choose 20.00 in free product with my Auntie Em's frequent buyer card, I thought I'd go for it! I am LOVING these flourishes, by Autumn Leaves.

Did a Bit of Shopping!

Saturday I went shopping at Auntie Em's. Bought a few things! LOL! Got a few of the Bee stamps and sentiments from Stampendous, as well as the super cute shoe and purse set! Too Cute! And with my full frequent buyer card, I got the cool Flourishes set by Autumn Leaves.

The above card used paper and card stock from Stampin'Up and the bee stamps from Stampendous. Made the scallopped edge by using my slit punch from Stampin'Up!

Our New Kitten has a name!

We narrowed it down to 2, (although the last entry made me burst out laughing! Princess Consuella Bananahammock? I must have missed that episode of Friends!) The 2 Both Mike and I really liked were Olivia and Emma. We chose Emma.
So, scfranson (Claudia F.) please email me your address so I can send you your candy!

Name That Kitten!

New Kitten needs a new name. Post your suggestions here. My DH (Mike) and I will pick our favourite one and the winner will get some Blog Candy! What is this blog candy, you ask? A new kitten! No, just kidding! I've got a brand new, unopened SU designer ribbon pack and a brand new, unopened pack of patterned brads from Bo Bunny. Here are pics of New Kitten, and a pic of my candy!
PS...New Kitten is a Tortiose Shell...and female.

In a Family Way

OK, lame title, I know. Do you know how hard it is to come up with titles? It's HARD! Anyway...I was browsing Rachel's blog and saw her gorgeous card and found out it was from a sketch by Di Hickman, whom I'd never heard of, so I clicked the linked, found her blog and went "WOW!" So here is my take on her awesome sketch!

BTW, the title refers to the sentiment on the card!

We Found Her!

New Kitten is back!
This time, we put her in her own room...(Marshall's old room). She has her own food, water, litter and bed. It should take a couple of days for our cats to get used to New Kitten. Meanwhile, New Kitten will be going to the vet very soon!

Where's The Kitten?

While power-walking last night, I came upon a female kitten in heat. She is a confirmed stray. In fact, she is the one my friend Jill tried to talk me into keeping a couple of months ago. She is a GORGEOUS, althogh very skinny, tortoise shell somewhere between 8 months and 1 year old. Well, Jill has 3 cats and cannot take another, and financially, we really can't take another, but Jill offerered to help pay initial vet costs (spaying and shots)...SO-O-O-O...I said I'd take her home.
Well, it was a rough night. Neither our cats, nor the New Kitten, were happy. New Kitten wanted DESPERATELY to go outside. And this morning, when someone opened the door, she BOLTED! The kids and I took a walk around the neighborhood looking for her, and Jill is also keeping her eyes and ears open. Even if we can get her into the vet at least, before she gets pregnant.
I'll have another look tonight before I head out to chemistry class. Hopefully she's OK.

Sometimes you just need to go big!

Sometimes a stamped image is just better suited to a bigger card...like the Let's Shop Girl from CTMH!
This is a 6x6 card. The paper is from Stylin' Level 2 paper pack from CTMH. So, now it's your turn to create a card in a size you don't usually do! (See my challenge post below)!
