Oh yippee! I can do it now! thanks so much bloghore!
Ok, you know I'm going to be doing this all the time now!
If you participate in my challenges, please email me your blog link (if you have one) and then I can link your blog in my post! (or splitcoast gallery if you have one).

Adventures in Night School continued...

I am continuing to enjoy chemistry. It's amazing how much I've learned and retained and can actually understand! We had a test on Wednesday and I got 18/21 which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 86 percent.
I can not say enough good things about my teacher, Mr. Kfoury. It is obvious he loves teaching...it is his passion. He teaches adult education during the day and night school twice a week. If he is able to teach biology in night school next year, then I'm all over it!

Tragedy

We found out on Wednesday that our brother-in-law committted suicide Tuesday night. Although we hadn't seen him for quite a while ( he and his wife were estranged) it was quite a shock and very sad. We can only hope he is in a much happier place now.
Depression can be debilitating. It can consume you. I have suffered from depression in the past and sought help. There is no shame in seeking proffessional help for any illness INCLUDING depression. If anyone reading this has ever felt suicidal, is sufferring from depression or anxiety disorder (as I am) PLEASE seek help. PLEASE talk to someone. You are definitely not alone.

Check This Out!

Alex has got music on her blog! I've got to learn how to do that!
PS...if ANYONE can tell me/show me how to add links IN my posts, I would really appreciate it. Everytime I type in an address (http://www.sillybirds.blogspot.com/ for example) it will not become a link. Why not? So frustrating!

PS...thanks so much bloghore for teaching me how to insert links!

I'm such a bad blogger!

Wow, I can't believe what a bad blogger I've been! I am not keeping up with my posts, and I apologize. Between working all day, chemistry Monday and Wednesday nights, monthly crops, monthly scrapbooking class and monthly card class, time is at a premium. Plus, we had to do a bit of a renovation in the day care space.
Here's what's new:
Our cat Nicki had her blood sugar tested and it was 10.2...a teeny bit high, but we will continue her dose every 3rd day.
I took advantage of CTMH's buy 2 get 1 free sale and I will post my goodies when I recieve them April 1st (at the monthly Blackburn crop).
I'm doing well in chemistry.
Every single person I know has been horribly sick...except me...(knock on wood).

Well, that's it, really. So you haven't missed much! LOL!

A different kind of challenge...

Today, I challenge you to visit a blog you've never visited before! I have lots of links and those links have links (especially Allison's! Holy cow, that woman visits everybody!) There is so much inspiration to be found, so many really funny blogs, too!
Enjoy your search!

Disaster fixed...almost.

Well, we spent the weekend trying to fix a project that went horribly wrong. See, I thought the day care space would look much better with the wallpaper stripped and the walls painted. Only problem was the paper would not peel off because the niblets who installed the drywall did not prime it before hanging the wallpaper.
Long story short, we needed to fix the walls. We bought some cheap pannelling, installed it backwards (so the walls are white...not fake wood-grain), then filled in any seams with drywall putty, sanded and smotthed and it is now ready to paint. That will happen next weekend.
Everything has been vaccuumed, cleaned, put back and looks just like it should-ready for children tomorrow morning.
So a pretty sucky weekend overall.

Challenge Wows!

I chose two today. The scrapbook page is by Barb (AKA ScrappinBarb!) I love the whole arraingement of the page.
The corset card is by Juliet Arrighi. (Juliet participates in every challenge!) I have never seen a card like this. The corset part is like a belly band and slides off so you can open the card. Juliet said she would "shoot anyone who tried to unlace it!" LOL!

Let's punch it up!

This week I challenge you to use your punches! Create a card, scrapbook page or altered item. Get creative!
Email me an attachment of your project. Friday we will choose one to be featured on my blog on Saturday.

Altered Challenge!

Isn't this so bright and cheery and happy? I love it! This is an altered notebook that was created by Juliet Arrighi! Thanks for participating in my challenges!
I believe the stamps used are Close To My Heart stamp of the month for March...Rustic Flowers.

Wanna know what I did last night?

OK, so last night's chemistry class was brought to you by the math department.
You have NO idea how much math we did. Three hours of math.
OH. MY. G*D.
Metrics and measurements...convert kilos to pounds, grams to miligrams, litres to kilolitres etcetera, etcetera. Temperature and measurements...convert Celcious to Kelvin to Fahrenheight. Percentage Error...accepted value minus experimental value devided by accepted value times 100. Oh and the most fun part...the Scientific Notation. It's all about the decimal point. I won't bore you with the details.
I am so tired.
I REALLY hope I can get this.
Can we go back to the Periodic Table? I ROCK the table!
One cool thing...a new student who attends high school during the day (grade 12) sat beside me and was able to explain things in a way I could understand. I pick her to be my lab partner! LOL!
These 2 atoms walk into a bar. One atom bumps into another and says, "Hey, I think I lost an electron!" The other atom says, "Are you sure?" He answers, "Yeah. I'm positive."
A little chem humour.
Did I mention I'm so tired?

Here's Tuesday's Card!

The "A" is stamped in a pale yellow which isn't showing up very well in the scan, but looks nice IRL.
OK, so I used the new SU set called That's Nice from the Spring Mini.I used markers directly on the stamp to achieve the multuple colours. I stamped the butterfly background with the butterfly from Small Sayings from the Winter Mini. Last, I tied Cream grosgrain ribbon as an accent. Very simple card, but I think it is very pretty.

Challenge: alter it!

You may choose to alter anything...a paint can, notebook, candle, small tin, chipboard...whatever! Email me an attachment of your project by Friday for a chance to be featured on my blog on Saturday.

Black and White challenge! WOW!

I had several people send me email for this challenge and let me tell you, it was a tough choice! There is a lot of talent out there! Because there were so many entries (thank you EVERYONE for playing!) I decided to post 2 very different cards. One is a very cute skunk card and one is a very Victorian card.

This is by Thanh. Isn't it a cute card? The skunk is from the SU set Stinkin' Cute. The daisy is from Stamping Bella and is embossed in white.

This is by Chris Franco. I like it's very classic looking design. The stamp used for the background is TAC's Vine stamp.

Friday's Card...

Today's masculine card is also a birthday card. I used the SU set It's Your Birthday (pg.182) to make my background. I used the new set Best Bar Codes from the Spring Mini as the main image. Colours used are: Taken With Teal, Tempting Turquoise and Cool Caribbean.

Oh...it's my...

BIRTHDAY!
I turn 36 today. Just thought I'd share.
BTW, have you guys seen my new slideshow? Scroll to the very bottom of the page.

A Little Excited...part deux!

My first EVER chemistry class was last night. WOW! I actually learned things! a vast majority made sense to me. And I'm told by my teacher that as we get going it will make more sense to me.
I think memorizing the periodic table and what all those abbreviations stand for will be very daunting! And memorizing the electron configuration will be no easy task. BUT at least I UNDERSTAND the electron configuration! That was my most favourite part!
I am the only adult in the class of 7. The others are high school students and one 22 year old who acts like a high school student.
My teacher is very interesting and patient.
Someone asked me why I'm taking high school chem. It's because I want to go back to college and become a dental hygienist.
EDIT: I just found out I begin high school Biology next week!

Blog Bling Winner!

is number 18!
l8ybug2...that's you! So email me your snail mail address and I'll send you your gift right away!
