How do you store punches?

I need suggestions...ideas...How do you store your punches? I do not like them in a drawer or bag because I have to rifle through everything to find the one I want. I saw an idea where the punches were hanging off a dowel...I like that but i do not know how to build that. All ideas, suggestions welcomed...except storing them in a drawer! LOL!

Before I lost my work area (Thank you Hurricane Wilma) but all is OK now, OK back to the punch storage. I had bought a 4' wide piece of wood at Home Depot and put up as a shelf over my work area, and placed my punches on that, it was great, I then had a deeper shelf over it, but this shelf ran about 4 feet and I was able to place all my punches on it and everything was right in front of me. Of course I don't have that many punches a few more now but under 20, the little punches I put in a small clear case, (like a pencil case) and put that standing up on the shelf. Hope this helps

I four matchbox car holders for my small punches, a Mitten chest for my medium and a window sill for my large SU and Ek punches! I also have two paper boxes FULL in the closet! lol

I have mine on a shelf. Perfect reach for me for now.

You can view my room and shelf here-

I bought some wire baskets at Dollarama that I believe are designed to go in silverware drawers. DH mounted them on the inside door of my stamping cabinet and my punches fit in them really nicely. There's a photo of my cabinet on my blog at www.keltonsmom.blogspot.com and the baskets are on the right hand side door. (I've since bought some for the other door as well).

ChrisS has them stored in a shoe bag (a GIANT one) that hangs off the back of her door. It's awesome. The clear plastic allows you to see EVERYTHING. :D

Hi Michelle!
I keep mine in drawers but if I had the space I'd use towel rods. Just the inexpensive metal ones that you just screw right into your walls. Then you rest the lever punches off that.
I've seen someone else who does this in their craft room and it's very effective and keeps everything in view and ready to use.
I think it's very similiar to what Nicole Heady did in your room excpept her's were built out of wood.

I just put my big punches (giga, mega and large SU ones) in a vinyl over the door shoe holder I bought at Target for $6.00. My little punches are hanging off the edge of a container on my desk. I loved the idea of the towel bars but DH didn't want to have that many holes in the wall so I opted for the shoe holder which does work well. Jenny

Mine are in a mesh over-the-door shoe holder. The larger ones get their own pocket and the smaller ones share...I can easily see everything I have.

After you drool over every inch of her studio, scroll down to the last picture where she has her punch storage. I'm copying that idea.

What if you could put up like some kind of wire system and put the space of the punch between the base and the top portion threw the wire.
