Ever heard of Webkinz?
Chances are, if you've got kids over 7 years of age, then you've heard of Webkinz. Check out their site here.
The jist of it is this: You buy a Webkinz plush toy from a specialty store (if you can find any!), use the "secret code" to adopt the pet, then play trivia games and other games to earn "kinzcash" to use to buy furniture for your room, buy other rooms, buy food and clothing for your pet, etc...! Some of the stuff you buy is intereactive...the stove/sandwich maker/blender/BBQ actually allow you to make food by combining recipes. You can bathe your pet in the bathtub. You can buy games such as card games (Go Fish), air hockey table, board games that your pet can play. It is actually really fun. And addictive.
The pets themselves are inexpensive...11.99 (CDN).

My daughter turned 9 a couple of weeks ago. One of the moms of my daughter's friend emailed me to ask if it was o.k. for her to buy her a Webkinz. I said "sure - I have no idea what a Webkinz is but I'm sure it's fine". Jump ahead to 2 weeks later (now) and she is a Webkinz LOVER! The Easter Bunny is bringing 2 tonight!

The Quizzy games are actually very interesting and educational. I allow the after-school kids to play on their account once homework is done.
(I have my own account...because I never really grew up! LOL!)
I have 2 kids over 7 and never heard of these toys.
I'll have to ask them about them when they come home from school today.
